Just Being Fly

Fly Won is a Master Thrifter and ReSellHer who currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia. An Indy native, Won was in ATL barely a week before her finds began to showcase in Sherane’s Vintage Closet. Werk!

Won also sells her vintage treasures on Fly’s Nest, her online thrift store. Oh, did I mention she’s a stylist and photoshoot director too?

I personally love Fly’s Nest and recommend you to take a peek at her world below.

How did you come up with the name Fly’s Nest?
The name Fly was given to me by my high school friend when I was 16. It was to be my “poet” name. Nest was added because I compare my collection of finds to a birds nest. As a bird collects and uses different things to make its nest, I collect thrift items to translate a vision.
What does Fly’s Nest clothing or accessories represent?
Fly’s Nest finds represent uniqueness in women. I only collect items that are unique, loud, different and fearless. They are for women who are all those things.

Why should women invest in Fly’s Nest?
Because most of the items are vintage and have a story, I only collect items that are of great quality. I know this because most have kept their wear for over 20 years. These items aren’t mass marketed and you won’t see another woman in them.

What do you see for Fly’s Nest in the future?
I see items being requested for T.V. shows, sitcoms and music videos. I want the world to see my finds. That would make me feel very accomplished. I want to be sought out by celebrities.

How do you stay up to date with the evolving world of fashion?
Being that history repeats itself, in fashion especially, it’s not hard. My shopping eye gravitates towards 80’s style, which is quite similar to 40’s style, so it’s not hard to “stay up to date.” Conversely, I don’t worry about fitting in. My integrity to my craft allows me to stay true to what I love, and the clothes I love to find. I don’t cater to women who want to stay average. I cater to women who want to take risks.

What is your favorite fashion trend and why?
At this very moment, it’s definitely biker shorts. I love them! They are so comfy and easy to wear, especially with a loose longer top. They come in so many colors, patterns and designs. When they “go out of style” they can always be transferred into workout wear.

Three words that describe your fashion sense are?
Unique, vintage and FLY!
