Hey peeps! Some of you already know, but for those of you who don’t, I am moving to California. It’s so exciting! I will board the plane this Sunday and head to Monterey, California. I am thrilled for this new life journey. In preparation for the move I have not updated my blog, and I will not post until I settle in my new place. But I will keep everyone posted on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Please follow me for fashion, food, and lifestyle updates on those sites. I will also let you all know on those networks when my blog will relaunch. It will have a totally NEW look as well. This will be great! Please stay tuned! Thanks for peeking!
Champ’s birthday was last Thursday peeps aka August 15th. Isn’t he the cutest?! In celebration he snacked on some pretty tasty treats. His goodies were so cute! I purchased them from Three Dog Bakery, all their treats are natural too. Watch this cute video here for a closer look. Champ liked the cupcake (once I took off the icing) and cookies best. He is growing up right before my eyes. I can’t get enough of him. I just love Champ!
Hey guys! I’m back in Indy! Thank God I made it back safely from San Antonio, Texas. It was a long 18 hour drive, but totally worth every mile. To respect the privacy of the Airmen I will not post photos of them, or my love. However, in the next couple of weeks I should be cleared to post photos. Anyways Texas was absolutely HOT and WONDERFUL! It was over 100 degrees everyday. Can you say “sweat” because that’s just what I did?! The best part of Texas besides being reunited with my best friend, was seeing the sites such as the River Walk. It was the best! Yes that waffle in the photo is real, and it was delicious. And wait… there is more.
First up is my puppy, Champ and I, ready to hit the open road last Wednesday.
In Texas we went to the River Walk more than anything. It was like the canal but TONS better. There is dining, shopping, riverboats, museums, entertainment and more. I loved the live music and just everything. The scenery is beautiful. Take a peek below at some photos.
The Rivercenter Mall is HUGE. I got a new pair of sandals that I love from here.
I miss the River Walk already. Hope you enjoyed my photos.
Okay so last week I left for camp on Sunday and returned on Wednesday. However I didn’t fully recover until Saturday. I’ve had the best naps. Ha! It was filled with so many fun activities. Horseback riding. Mud volleyball. Archery. Zip lining. I mean it was activity, after activity. We, the campers and I, were always on the move. Plus Christ was in the mix. We had great speakers and worship. Camp was truly one of the highlights of my summer. Too much excitement! Man do I have some stories and photos for you.
I would like you to get a feel of the camp life. So I decided to make this short and sweet. The camp was at Spring Hill Camps in Seymour, Indiana. It’s a Christian camp that spans 740 acres and includes 11 lakes. We are talking pretty big. Plus we had the campgrounds all to ourselves this year. There were 63 students, boys and girls ranging from 5th grade to high school. I had 10 girls in my cabin in the 8th grade. Peek here to check out my cabin. It was pretty sweet!
Number 1: Red Robin… Yuuuuummmm!
This is the name my girls came up with for our cabin. I don’t even know how we came up with it. It was either that or Monkey Bubble Butts, and I was not about to let that happen. Ha! Every time someone knocked on our door whoever was inside sang Red Robin. And we’d respond YUM at the top of our lungs. If we were really into it we’d do a little dance.
Number 2: Who Runs the World? Girls! (Prank)
What’s camp without pranks right? This plan formed while a group of us were at archery. How archery and prank talk goes together I will never know. I initially wanted to say no, but it was completely harmless. We ended up pouring glitter and flowers on their beds, spraying their rooms with perfume, switching their bags and putting pink tissue paper on the door handles. We made a sign that read, “Who runs the World? Girls!” and hung it on the guys side. Plus took their football captive and sprayed it with glitter perfume. So fun! They tore it down and stomped on it, but we have pictures. Ha!
Number 3: Blue Team Dominates
The theme of camp was the Hunger Games. It was all about being hungry for Christ. We divided the kids up into teams (blue, green, red, and yellow) I was on the blue team. Like in the Hunger Games there was a Reaping, which is an annual event that takes place in every district before the Hunger Games. (I was in District 7.) We took our team of 13 kids into the woods on a dark night. A long, muddy, and wet walk. Oh and we covered there heads with pillow cases and tied their hands up with robe. I could not stop laughing!
Once we arrived at our destination we made them get on their knees, recite an oath, and drink blood from a coconut. Wait! It was actually a mixture of syrup, flours, lots of salt, red food dye and more. We also never called them by their names anymore, but numbers instead like 0, 43, 11 etc. I heard another team was getting chased my some man with a chainsaw. Anyways we won the entire competition and watched the other teams flags burn. What a great group of kids! Go Venomous Butterflies!
Number 4: Praise Jesus
The speakers, testimonies and worship during camp were amazing. I absolutely love to hear how God truly changes people’s lives. I also enjoyed hearing how to distinguish between Christ being your King or Lord. Gesh there is such a huge difference. Camp definitely touched my heart spiritually too. The small group connections my girls and I made were so special. Life is all about Christ! I am so excited to do His will. I pray I will be a vessel used in some way to help change lives… especially the lives of young women.
Number 5: On the Move
Camp was full of activities… I think that’s what made it go by so fast. We went from zip-lining to flag football, or horseback riding to kickball. We even had a scavenger hunt and did stuff like kissing a horse, and throwing a water balloon at a stranger. During that hunt my team ran almost the entire way all over camp. Such troopers! Oh and the last night the District 1 boys hosted a dance party, and it was so much fun. We danced the night away. I miss my campers and the amazing staff.
Hope you enjoyed this peek into camp life!
Trendy projects have been such a huge part of my summer this year. I was always so crafty growing up too, so revisiting that love has really been refreshing. At camp I made over five shirts for my girls, and was like “I was born to do this.” Ha! This year for camp I did Goodie Glasses, which is like a goodie bag but in a glass. I came up with it all by myself too. I also had the girls decorate their glass because ultimately; the glasses will be used as jewelry holders. One girl in my cabin, Ellie, made hers like an actual tree going through the different seasons. How creative is that? It was so neat.
I just wanted to give the girls something to remind them of camp later on, and just welcome them. I also gave them each a note. I filled the glass with lip-gloss, bobby pins, hair ties, hand sanitizer, and nail art.
It was so fun to make and super cheap. Can you say Dollar Store? Because that’s exactly where I got all my cool stuff. Yeah buddy! Click here to see my video of the Goodie Glasses.
Champ is coming with me to San Antonio, Texas. Yay! I know insane right? We (Erik’s family and I) are driving there. Yeah I know it’ll be forever, but I am truly looking forward to it. Hopefully Champ doesn’t get too restless during the ride. We are going to San Antonio to see my love graduate from Basic Training, click here for more info. Anyways we found a hotel that is “pet friendly” and Champ is thrilled. It’s a surprise for Erik… he has no idea. I will be sure to take photos for you all, and post videos on Instagram. Are you following Champ on Instagram yet? If not, get to it! Enjoy these photos from my best bud. Oh and watch this video of Champ being stuck in a hanger, click here. Too funny!
Yes, he is sitting in a window sill. He LOVES to sit there and look outside.
Now Champ is in need of a haircut. Tears! But he’s still cute as a button. Stay tuned for more from Champ’s Corner.
Until next time,
Hey there! How are you? I missed writing you all. It feels like its been forever. I just spent the last few days at camp in Seymour Indiana, that’s why I haven’t been posting. It’s barely any service there. Anyways camp was a blast, definitely one of the highlights of my summer. I am working on a larger post full of stories, pictures, and videos to show you all what happened. The video may be tricky so if that fails I guarantee stories and photos. The camp was hosted by Heartland Church. The kids had an amazing experience which included growing deeper in their faith, horseback riding, competing, zip-lining, canoeing and more. It was truly amazing. I have tons of stories to tell you too. So peek back next week for the camp tales. Have a great weekend!
Hey peeps! I am excited to reveal my DIY high-waist shorts that I created Tuesday. If you follow me on Instagram you saw the first peek. But today I am revealing how they turned out after the washer/dryer phase. Click here to see the short clip of how I went about creating them. I’m seriously addicted now. I’ve made another pair since then, and I’m on my third pair now. Ha! They are all old jeans so it’s all good! I will reveal the other pair too, because I’m attempting to make high-low ones. Anyways the jeans above I got from Goodwill for like $3.99. Oh and guess what?
The cashier gave me a discount “just because.” Love when that happens! Want to make your own DIY shorts? All you need is scissors and your imagination. Really! I just cut and tore in random spots. Then grabbed some white out, dotted the front, and put lines in the back. I also slashed the front ends of the shorts. Once I put them in the washer/dryer they unraveled, and became more distressed-looking. The washer/dryer just adds a whole, new element. Now all I need is a cute, cropped top to pair them with.
So fun! I’m a get some fabric-paint so I can go even further with designs next time. I have a ton of DIY shorts pinned on Pinterest. This is one of many Pinterest Projects. Check out more here and here. Have you done DIY shorts this summer?
Happy Friday everyone! It’s such a beautiful day. Yesterday I went costume bowling with Heartland Church staff and youth at Pinheads. It was so fun! I dressed up as Diana Ross. People were stopping us and asking us to take pictures with them. I even had some people point and laugh at me while I was driving. Ha! Costume bowling is so creative! I highly recommend it. We had someone dressed as bacon, and another was a Power Ranger. So cool! Check out my whole outfit.
Yes, I’m wearing a wig and I did my own makeup too.
I love dressing up! I want to host a party where everyone comes dressed up from a certain decade. Hmm…
Hey lovely people! I’ve been having so much fun recording videos on Instagram. Recently I tried something new and did a Style Haul video. You will not believe how many times I filmed it before I was like, “okay this will have to do.” Ha! I loved it! I always wanted to start a YouTube channel and Instagram video is fulfilling that void right now. This year though I am starting my own channel. So stay tuned! I just have so much fun filming. Although I am nervous to be in front of the camera I will overcome that fear. In the meantime watch my Mini Style Haul Video by clicking here.
