Style Peek: Camouflage Dreams

Waterfall dress-spring

I am so excited to reveal this style peek to you. It’s a total mixture of fun prints, which I have been playing with more often as I love mixing up things. Spring is one of the perfect seasons to dive into the mixing patterns trend, so I encourage you to try it. In this post my makeup is more daring since it was right after a photo shoot, and I didn’t remove my makeup. I like it though, it brings even more attention to my daring attire. Oh, and at the end I show how I also showcased this same outfit with boots earlier (since it was chillier in the morning.) Both ways are fabulous though! See for yourself…

Outfit Inspiration: Mixing and matching is so much more fun than being too matchy-matchy. Matching shoes and matching bracelets are nice during certain occasions, but mixing up it is just thrilling! It adds a spunk to your step. Stepping out of your comfort zone is pure excitement. That’s what I attempted last weekend with this outfit. I wanted to mix and match bold patterns. The Waterfall Star Dress is cheerful, the Camouflage Tie Front Top brings a modern feel to the ensemble. I simplified the accessories with pearl earrings and my gold chain purse from Plato’s Closet. The gold sandals bring out the gold stars in my dress. Awesome!

Style Peek: Leopard Clutch & Baggy Jeans

Leopard-Clutch-Style-Peek

As I sit here sipping on my strawberry smoothie I feel so fresh. Woot! I love my healthy smoothies. Ha! Anyways, this style peek is long overdue. Actually it’s from a month or two ago. It’s one of those outfits that I wanted to bring a mixture of girly-girl and tomboy vibes. This is really the first time I wore my studded sweater. (I showcased it another way here.) Although it’s spring in Indy, the weather is still undecided so light sweaters and boots are a good idea some days. This particular day this ensemble was fitting for the sunshine and chilly breeze. Oh yeah do the weather-matching-outfit-dance. Hehe!

Studded Sweater-Leopard Clutch-Jeans

Outfit Inspiration: I wanted to wear my sweater, but still incorporate some tomboy aspects. My sweater gives off some tomboy elements with the spike studs and the rip seams throughout. I wanted to play off that with baggy jeans as well. These jeans are so old. Ha! But as you can see still come in handy. I love all the massive pockets and zippers throughout. I topped it off with a blingy handcuff, leopard clutch (i.e. my girly picks) and my favorite boots. (As I’ve worn those a lot. Hey, if you got it… flaunt it!)

Style Peek: Floral Party

Britt Hawaiian Floral Skinny fashion

My life feels like it’s on turbo mode right now. I’m transitioning into a new job, and other great things are happening that I will reveal later. It’s so exciting! Anyways, above is the outfit I wore to a going away party Saturday. My outfit goal was to wear clothes that were park friendly, yet stylish. I wasn’t trying to worry about getting my clothes dirty while enjoying myself. I was extremely comfortable too! I sported perfect attire for the party, as the floral print was quite festive.

Outfit Inspiration: Anytime party is in the mix it means to dress cute. That’s just what I did, while still being comfy. I love it! It was quite cold out for spring so topping my outfit off with a fur-trimmed jean jacket was fitting. The pants matched the “party attitude” which was cheerful. Underneath the jacket, I opted for a studded white sweater. My crossover-studded purse is a party duh—what else is easy to carry around while I’m mingling? When dressing for a party think comfy, enjoyable clothes and accessories that don’t overwhelm you.

Champ’s Tasty Tuesday: Gracie’s Rollovers

Shih-tzu- puppy

This Tasty Tuesday I wanted to switch it up a bit. My adorable puppy, Champ, will be sharing his thoughts on some dog treats he received from Three Dogs Bakery.  It’s such a cute spot filled with dog treats including cookies, brownies and s’mores. I think I will get Champ’s birthday cake from there. Anyhow, I chose two Gracie’s Rollovers ($2.25), which are carobcoated cookies in peanut butter and chocolate flavor. I forgot that Champ is probably the only puppy that doesn’t go crazy for peanut butter. He wasn’t a huge fan of the treats… but, well I will let him tell you about it.

So glad Adrian gave me the freedom to chat with you all finally. Now about these Gracie Rollover things… At first I was just happy to get something new, ya know? I only have so many options as a pup. But Adrian did promise to start incorporating other healthy foods into my diet.

Anyways the treats were tolerable. I paraded them around for awhile to brag, but then I just stared at them. Maybe because despite the enticing smell, I didn’t feel the need to eat them like I do with everything else. I’m not a huge fan of peanut butter either. Plus it has a thick coating which was hard for my small teeth to handle. After Adrian crushed it I took a bite here and there. I didn’t finish it right away though. Took me about a week to eat both of them, because I wasn’t too interested. I recommend them for dogs with stronger teeth, and have a love for peanut butter. Otherwise the toilet paper in the bathroom will do just fine.

Overall Grade: C-

There you have it folks from the barks of Champ. I was so happy when he finally finished those treats. He’s such a picky eater… sometimes. He will be giving more reviews in the future, so stay tuned.

My Life: Nathan Gerard Fashion Show

Nathan Gerard Fashion Show-Indianapolis

Yesterday I participated in the Nathan Gerard Fashion Show at the Irving Theater. The theme of the show was, “What are the youth to do?” It was a blast! Nathan is extremely talented. His looks consisted of designs made from carpet, curtains, towels and even blankets. I mean he seriously makes a towel look sexy. Nathan has a passion for reinvention, the line aims to speak to our generation through an accelerated narrative and nostalgic idea of beauty. The mixture of patterns and textures is beyond amazing. I was able to capture photos during the eclectic fashion show. I love his work!!!

AK’s World Update: Makeover in the Works

Blog Peeks-AK's World

AK’s World is currently under reconstruction. My blog will have an entire new look, logo… everything. The website will be so different and I am super pumped. Yay! In preparation for this, and so many other changes in the works, I will be posting less frequently. I will still post every week, just not everyday. This will ensure quality posts as well. I would rather give you remarkable posts than half-effort posts because I don’t have enough time. I am excited about this new makeover, and hope you will continuously take a peek. Oh my! Work has been incredibly busy this week, and yesterday I was assigned an additional story that took up the majority of the day. So I was unable to post a Tasty Tuesday before the day was over. Fail! I apologize. I will post my review still though. In the meantime I’ll show you all a photo shoot I participated in. Weekend Peek: Latitude 39 & Duck Tales

Latitude 39 Indianapolis

How was your weekend? It was beautiful in Indy, still cold, but the sun was shining. I was able to take a nap for the first time in a long time. Seriously I use to be the queen of naps. Ha! I also went to Latitude 39 for the first time Saturday. It’s such a neat place filled with an arcade, bowling alley, Axis Bar, stage and dance floor, and restaurant. The staff was great and I had so much fun dancing, bowling and chowing. Oh I also have the coolest story for you. I was riding my bike Sunday around my neighborhood, and I noticed ducks following this couple. I was fascinated and followed them asking the lady questions. Ha! Turns out they raised the ducks, and their names were Rocky and Adrian. My name is Adrian too (if you didn’t know that)! It was fate that I ran into them. Coolest thing!

You Are More Beautiful Than You Think

OH MY GOSH! I just got home from Zumba class, and I can’t tell you how insane my body is feeling right now. I mean my teacher is out of control. My goodness! Thank God I survived otherwise you would not be reading this post now. Ha! Well I wanted to share a video with you today. I love the message behind this Dove Real Beauty campaign video. It’s not promoting the product at all, but instead sending a positive message to all women. At times we can be so hard on ourselves, believe me I know. I was literally in tears while watching this. I was so touched. I was thinking of how I see myself sometimes in a negative light, but how beautiful I always am in the sight of God. You are more beautiful than you think. Enjoy!
